I don't notice any decrease in muscle size but notice a big drop in strength.

I read somewhere that it takes about twice as long to lose muscle as it took to gain it, so if you workout for a year then quit for two years you will be more or less where you started

Have an extremely hard time believing this. MAYBE your size and looks, but as far as actual strength goes..

Ill for a week, had a good flu, did not train. I also ate less. Felt weaker + less filled out in my experience. Also stopped using creatine.
