I believe that would be correct.

I'm another one being a dumbass and staying up until like 4-5AM. I sleep well until the sun rises and then I wake up a lot and don't feel super rested.

I could put something over my windows to totally block the light, but the reality is I need to fix my damn sleep schedule.

If you get to sleep and wake at normal hours, you should feel a bit better.

I'll try it out, but fucked tonight, it's so tough cuz the poker rooms get much much MUCH more profitable later at night, which doesn't really make sense, but i'm making around ~8ptbb/h per table at night compared to the 4-5 during the day...

Lies

Rising and falling with the sun will make you more rested.

More importantly: going to bed at same time every night and waking up at same time will make you feel more rested.

Not for me... can never be on a first shift schedule or i always feel like shit

This. If you work second of third shift does that make you less healthy than someone who works first shift? No, you're still awake and asleep just as long as anyone else.

But your body naturally secretes/releases/whatever the fuck it does melatonin when the sun goes down, plus a bunch of other shit it does.
