Prehypertensive means you're approaching the clinically hypertensive range of 140+. Keep in mind your BP will fluctuate on the basis of even a minute. Your systolic BP might rise 20 or 30 mmhg with strenuous resistance exercise for a few minutes and then return to baseline as the heart slows. High blood pressure readings are only problematic when they are CONSTANTLY high, so taking 10 or so readings throughout the course of a day and averaging them is the best way to get an idea of your vascular health.

If you demonstrate pre hypertension you are at risk for full blown hypertension and a doctor would likely suggest you exercise more and cut the salt intake, if your BP doesn't drop or climbs into clinical hypertension he might consider starting you on a mild antihypertensive med.

Educate yourself then, so you understand what people are saying and can implement certain things into your lifestyle.

Getting 140 as the big number, no matter what time of day you check, means you have high blood pressure. Sometimes it goes over 140 if you're doing hard exercise but that's normal. It's only a problem if it's always over 140. Being over 130 is not good because you might climb up to 140 which is the zone you don't want to be in.

your blood pressure is in the normal range, but on the high side

if you can, try to eat less salt, because its one of the most important factors for high blood pressure, which you might eventually have if your pressure increases

cloud recommended taking the measures multiple times a day and making an average, because it varies during the day

exercise also helps
