yea it's actually decently healthy. Typically.

but late night kebab joints usually go hand n hand with lots of oil and sauces. Still not too bad

You are joking right? When I say kebab I don't mean the tradtional dish from Turkey, but the Scandinavian take on it, made by Pakistanis and sometimes Iranis.

A local newspaper did a test on all the kebabs in town and the average kebab here contains a wine glass of fat. - I don't even want to know how many calories that equates to from the fat alone.

Its like 200ml of deep fried oil + how every many grams of fat and carbs there is in the thousand island / garlic sauce / chips probably way too much sodium too.

Kebabs are so unhealthy they make McDonald's looks acceptable to a nutritionist.

Like this except I ask them to remove the salad and replace with extra chips and meat and then have them fill the whole plate with sauce.

I don't think saying it contains 2000 kcals is an exaggeration lol.

Tastes like heaven though

In the U.S. for example, I had a kebab in september and it was lamb meat and some grilled vegetables...most people would consider it actually very healthy. I assume that's what he's thinking of.

maybe getting my terms mixed but in the U.S a kebab is smallish chunks of chicken/beef/pork and cut up pieces of onion, bell pepper, tomato, etc., all skewered on a small 'stick' and grilled..

forgetting the sauce, they're typically high protein, low fat, low carb

Kebabs are different in every culture. If a Turk comes here and asks for a kebab he'll probably return it not knowing what he's been served. The actual kebab dish (from Turkey) is a healthy dish I believe. I remember this dilemma when we had a group of Turks in our high school exchange programme.

Here though there's constant rumours amount kebabs being made of cat meat, rat meat, etc.. most cheaper kebab places use this disgusting pink gel instead of actual meat, but the fancier places use lamb on a rotisserie.

I've tried getting my parents and grandparents to taste a kebab but they completely refuse. Teen agers and young adults love it, but no parent generation would walk into a kebab place.

the UK has similar kebabs to Scandinavia, except they're not that nice-tasting at all and very slimey/oily (but over there you get Schwarmas which are fucking delicious, wish we had them here..)

Maybe the places you guys go to have adopted the more traditionally kebab and not the unhealthy (but delicious) kebabs made by war refugees that you find in Western-Europe.

Yup that's the healthy varient. I eat the 2000+ calorie version of that which probably has hundreds of grams of fat ^^
