Also going for a kinda valgus'ish position with the knees usually help achieve a bit more drive during those topsets.

have evidence or is that more anecdotal? i would disagree i feel like you need to avoid knee valgus on the bench much like the squat to get proper leg drive. you simply cant apply force in an efficient way from a valgus position

I don't have any scientific, only heard practical.

Most chinese weightlifting coaches say that more torque is applied during the squat if knees go in (not recommended in training though).
And I've heard from 2 world class benchers (Freddi Smulter and Fredrik Svensson) and some top tier swedish benchers that they actually feel a more efficient drive when feet drive outwards and knees are pointing in.

If you don't compete then why are you concerned about leg drive?

If you don't compete then why do you lift?

Is that a serious question?

Why would you change your own oil but wouldn't have the slightest clue on how to balance out a crankshaft?

Because you hadn't yet learned to balance a crankshaft? How is that an appropriate analogy?

That maybe some people enjoy doing light work on their own car but wouldn't delve so far into it to make it their career?

Or maybe some people lift for health and stress relief and enjoy building a fair amount of aesthetics and would prefer to not take it seriously and compete?

I don't see how that one flew over your head, should I start referring to you as Alpha?

You're literally defeating your own analogy.
A natural progression of mechanics would be starting with learning to change oil, and eventually you will get to balancing a crankshaft.
But a natural progression of bench pressing is not competing in a PL'ing competition. It certainly can be, but you can still taking lifting to a high level and not compete in PL'ing.

Call me whatever you like, I don't need insults to deal with you.
