watch it as it enters my mouth

on topic doe...

iifym

eating twinkie diet not healthy

also people on calorie counting dies might avoid stuff like almonds and nuts

things with healthy benefits

counting calories might be bit harder if eating alot of fruit, not so filling, yet its healthy in moderate amounts

Why would someone avoid almonds when they're counting calories? The twinkie diet isn't iifym, that's just pure calorie counting with no attention to macro ratio.

I don't think either focus can be ignored. Of course I would never recommend someone a twinkie diet based purely on energetic concepts but I would never advise someone to ignore calorie content of food. We just need a way to educate people about both sides of the coin

The perception that choosing some garbage "100-calorie" pack is better for them than the 200 calorie serving of almonds, because I mean look at all those calories you are saving! The general public has little regard for the concept of nutrient density when it comes to food selection, they aren't considering the ratio of micronutrients:macronutrients. Even the person consciously watching calories is going to try to budget those calories to consume as much food as they can justify...

most people are lazy as shiet, and being advised on lower energy, higher nutrient food choices would create better adherence. Besides that, I think the bigger problem is the level of physical activity for the general public.

There is no denying that counting macros/hitting micros/fiber is the optimal way to diet, but I just think it is one of the least likely to create adherence in the general public.

I think their point about it being harmful may be that most people are...troglodytes..

Here is a dialogue

Troglodyte: I want to lose weight.
Dietician: Count your calories and eat at a caloric deficit.
Troglodyte: How many calories do i eat?
Dietician: Optimally, you want to be around a 500 calorie deficit to lose 1 pound of fat per week. So eat about 2300 calories per day.
Troglodyte: (That's way to slow, I want to lose 2.5 pounds of fat a week like the magazines say, so i should eat a 1250 calorie deficit)

troglodyte gives up after a week because 1550 calories is bullshit. Doesn't notice a difference on the scale. determines counting calories are bullshit.

I mean.. sad but true lol.

@ topic in general: I think a large problem is that too many people relate only calories to overall health instead of realizing that your health is an entirely different concept than just calories in n out.
