This doesn't apply to Americanized Chinese, but they are very unhygienic and lack a lot of common sense / class.  Gross hygiene...see it all day in NYC

Common sense is definitely a big thing. I've noticed with several exchange students from China that they just don't understand anything over here. They're GREAT at classes but when it comes to common sense they never seem to pick it up.

Source: chinese kids parked the wrong way on the street every day last year and got ticketed every day... they never seemed to figure out why they were getting tickets.... even when EVERY car was parked facing the other way -.-

I'd look like an idiot at first. But for a WHOLE YEAR? They come here and take classes that only speak english... so obviously they understand the language a bit. I'd pick up on cultural norms in 2-3 months tops.

There is no reason to lack "common sense" after 9-12 months here. Obviously you still won't understand everything involved with American culture but some big no-nos you should've picked up on already.

Don't get me wrong... I have never had any issues with chinese/international students... but c'mon man how do you ever make the same mistake for a year straight -.-

Nothing personal, and not aimed at anyone here in particular, but in my experience Americans really lack common sense.

And sarcasm just doesn't seem to exist to the majority of you guys. I can't remember how many people I convinced that Ireland doesn't have cars, or televisions, or electricity! Seriously.

Irish humour/personality is heavily based on sarcasm... I'm just not understood over there.
