What do you mean by that?

Cause you can just -1000 calories from your total and just split up what you have left into 5-8 smaller meals and keep your metabolism going by spacing those meals out.  That's what you're thinking about right?

If not, then what are you thinking about?  I'm just curious.  lol.

Well meal frequency doesn't have an effect on metabolism assuming the caloric sum is the same
I mean the fact that metabolic adaptation will surely occur, but no damage or shutting down of the metabolism will occur.. your metabolic rate will be reinstated within a few weeks upon cessation of the diet. And even then, metabolic adaptation isn't anything too overt or severe unless a very prolonged deficit to very low bf% levels (ie contest prep) or general robust deficits for awhile. Even then, on the very extreme ends of the spectrum, metabolic adaptation could contribute to as much as 15% decline in metabolism not predicted by changes in FFM and other variables, correlating very heavily with leptin decline. However, again, that's the extreme end, normally it won't even contribute that much, thus generally marginal.
