Well if you have a good plan, you hit your abs on compounds (for stability/maintaining your spine in a good position). Then over the course of four days, you could isolate abs twice or so, I guess. Every second day sounds logical. I'd put them apart from any squats or deadlifts.
You need to hit them for that elusive 6 pack, but also make sure your diet is in check.
