maybe it's bc the area I'm from I'm simply naive.. I mean the "pranks" were absurd but the reactions were often overzealous
and the readiness to pull guns was also a surprise and a bit frightening tbh

That's the mentality of guys in almost all walks of life, but if you're looking in low socioeconomic areas it's more pronounced, everybody is trying to prove how tough they are and how they don't take any shit from anybody, because that is how men define themselves unfortunately.
