used to tear this from the rim when dunking

Usually when I dunk I grab the rim between my thumb and first finger. Well I don't necessarily grab it but that's where I hit. I have bruised my wrist from slamming too hard on a lowered hoop lol

Your vertical might be around 20-24 considering your height. Are your arms a decent length or just average?

Lol. I got 27 with an actual vertical test in 8th grade off 2 feet.

Gotta figure in my head length from the top of my head to my shoulders. So subtract that from 5'10. Then figure in my arm length including hand.
Even then in order to dunk you can just touch the rim, u have to get above it ~3-4 inches at least.

No offense but I hope the length between my feet and the ground at my highest point didn't look like <2 feet

if you could have 20-24 inch vert and dunk at 5'10 everyone would be dunking...

Also tommy vert and running max vert are two different things lots of people have shitty vert and can dunk and vice versa..

Vertical is off two feet, yes?

I feel like you sort of contradict you saying if people have 20-24 in vertical and can dunk then everyone would be dunking but then go on to say people can have a crappy vertical and still dunk. Are these people really tall? Lol

But I get what u mean lol

u can approximate your vertical....measure your standing reach and see how high you can get your hand above the rim...that should roughly measure your vertical.
what is your standing reach btw? what is your max squat and deadlift? weight? body fat?

gj though, i'm 23 and still trying to dunk.

Just get a vert test done. It's most likely over 30".

For the record, you need 6 inches above the rim to dunk -- at bare minimum.

I'm 5'10" with a 6' reach and I believe I need about 36" or so to dunk. Which is why at my age I'm always struggling @ it, especially since I got off two feet most of the time.
