Anyone that says yes has to be a psychopath...

Not necessarily. Psychopaths don't feel guilt, remorse, love, and they're impulsive and there are many different types of psychopaths. Psychopaths lack humanity, yes. But people that are normal would also answer yes to this, people that are scientifically minded would answer yes to this. Because death of humanity is inevitable, humans push more and more everyday to create WMD's, new strains of mega viruses, etc. Why not end the suffering and inevitable in the blink of an eye?

If we killed life as we know it there's no guarantee that life would even start up again on this planet.

Why not? there might be a new mutated life form? or there might not.

Regardless, the survival instinct of whatever life form exists will try to end all other pre-existing life forms or work towards its destruction.

edit: woops, realized you specified human existence and not the "life as we know it" part still don't see how you could condone ending any possibility of humans reaching the next level of existence (colonizing and whatnot).

I have no problem with humans if they learn to coexist on this planet but I honestly think that would require such a radical shift in mentality for 7 billion people that it would never happen. I wouldn't trust it to happen, I would just wipe the slate clean and hope we never repopulated

Just think about what absolutely ridiculous advancements humans have made since the middle-ages. Are you really ready to say humans are incapable of growth as a species? There is no chance we could find solutions to these at the moment impossible problems? I don't get how someone could have the audacity to think their mind can hold the type of information required to make a decision like wiping out humanity, let alone all life on the planet.

As for life starting up again, the Fermi Paradox is a really interesting explanation on the concept of why we haven't found other life forms which will give you a better idea of how rare what we have here on earth is.

Here's a lengthy article if you want to learn about, feel free to wiki it or whatever as well. http://waitbutwhy.com/2014/05/fermi-paradox.html

A shift in consciousness that big for everybody to learn to love and express love for one-another is impossible. Therefore I'm 100% with you on this one.

Yes the industrial revolutions, new science, advancements in research, everything's moving ahead and has been moving ahead. I'm not saying humans are incapable of growth as a species.

But technology is a double-edged sword, and quite frankly the people in charge right now are moving towards destruction of humanity.

e: but if the universe is infinite, then well there are infinite possibilities for self-sustaining life forms such as ourselves.

Agreed, there are cycles of death and rebirth. Humanity moves towards its own destruction (physical, mental, spiritual) each day.

isnt this a big point in thermodynamics, entropy, disorder

So because you don't like the way the earth is running at this moment in time, or you believe (not saying I don't as I do too) that humans will kill ourselves before we have another shift on how world politics work it would be justifiable to kill everything? I just don't get it.

edit: life starting back up was just a side point, I really don't think you appreciate how rare life is though. It really does come down to what you said though, it might start up again, it might not so no use really discussing it, just don't for a second think those 2 mights have equal value haha.

Personally I blame it on religion and racism. Those are really the reasons, good luck dragging Muslims and Jews together and have them hug and live peacefully.

And I would not end existence, it will end when/if it does on its own however it may be. Why shorten my life and my chance to form relationships with others and be happy in the few years that I have. Nothing likely comes after in my mind but I still want to live for the moment and be with my family as long as I can.
