yeh most people are between low 50s to low 60s.

mine normally hovers around 70.

Just means you have a high resting heart rate - so I bet youre great at sprinter, but cant run a very far distance lol

Dead accurate. Fastest 60m sprint, one of the slowest 2 mile runs...

Mine (at rest) seems to shift as my cardio training shifts. High 30s to high 40s when I am doing more endurance stuff. My in-season RHR is usually in the 50s, and my off-season is where I see the drop-off because I focus more on cardio then. A few years ago my RHR got up to 66 or 68 and I was pissed about it so I focused on cardio. It doesn't take long (few months) to see drastic improvements. Right now I'm off-season but I'm a little off-target (50s).

Most people are higher than 50s to low 60s @ RHR. Yours is pretty normal; probably lower than average.

Just downloaded an app on my phone and my results after three tests were:

68, 186 (lol!!) and 78.

Woke up 1 hour ago, eating a pizza and drank a can of coke + mountain dew

in the military during our max pulse tests my rest pulse was 104 using proper equipment, not a smartphone app.. and my troop leader accused me of purposely spiking my heart rate to get out early

Troop leader? What were you in? The Canadian boy scouts?

E: when I was active duty, mine was usually between 40-45. Now, probably around 60.

He would have left ventricular hypertrophy which would lead to hypertension and if his BP's normal he won't have it. Simple.

e: his reading of his PR is inaccurate.

Marines; we get dived ed into company's run by "kompanisjef" (= head of company, company leader) rank = captain

and each company is comprised of several troops - lead by a 'troppsjef' directly translated to troop boss but a more correct translation is troop leader rank = Lieutenant.

Is troop leader not the correct term for the man in charge of the troop?

FYI it wasn't the troop leader either, it was actually what we call NK which stands for Nestkommanderende or "second-in-command" or whatever you'd call it.

ventricular hypertrophy can cause a decrease in left ventricular stroke volume, leading to compensation to maintain SYS bp by chronically elevated HR especially when myocardium hypertrophies in such a way that the fibers become misaligned and contractile force decreases. it doesnt necessarily have to be symptomatic, often times cardiac failure due to HCM in young individuals is the first symptom of the disease.

e: yeah no i agree he could just be reading his HR wrong, or double counting by accident. thats why i said get a physician to check him out. it could be nothing but if theres a risk of HCM and he fits the demographic then why not find out about it

Tends to happen on this forum :p

I guess I can use this as an excuse for wanting 3+ minute rest between each set when I lift :D nothing worse than training with people who take sub-2 minute breaks

Nah I know how to count.

40 beats for 30 seconds. so 80 BPM. Might just be the inconsistency of the smartphone apps. Funny that my BPM was double that of all of my co workers and ironically I was the one who sat still the most that day.

Could be all the cofees though.
