You could buy some 25's plates and make even heavier ones

Only big disadvantage of those is that, let's say when you bench, you can't rest them on your knees and kick them up to get into lifting position :S

ooh ouch! lol. How much do these things cost? Ive seen smaller ones that hold like 50 pounds tops, they were pretty expensive

I bought a used set allowing me to make 2x 40lbs + a small bar (not an olympic one) + 8 brand new 10's plates for less than 90$..

sheesh. I cant find free weights less then 1.50-2.00$ a pound where Im at Ill check on craigslist this week I think. My gym's have always been withing 5 minutes of my house, so I've never really felt a need to search for this kind of stuff.
