glutamine should already be in your whey protein and if you arent taking protein powder you are worthless
and i got a question
I have been a long time customer with a shopowner and he normally tells me things strait, and i went in there today looking for creatine, and like always he tells me creatine wont do anything but add waterweight and i will lose 100% of my gains and he was trying to tell me this other stuff called 'Con - Crete' was the only creatine he knows of that works, but i insisted on buying the 100% pure micronized creatine monohydrate and he seemed really upset i didnt trust him with his new product
anyone know if there was any truth to this?
A balanced diet is 100% achievable without protein powders, it is purely a tool to help reach appropriate macronutrient needs easier, because of its lean nature. I've met many people who have excelled without supplementing protein but their diets are so finely tuned that I really don't see the point...Its such an easy alternative, and a great ingredient for recipes!
Also about the creatine, i should say the shop owner is BSing you. People get these crazy ideas in their minds that only ONE product and ONE brand works for them, etc. But consider this, while dietary supplements aren't FDA regulated they would never sell if they did not produce their proposed effects. Think of the money a company needs to produce a product such as a certain brand of creatine mono...To keep their line running they will need revenue which will come from return customers (first-timers only bring in so much..). It is my honest opinion that most over-the-counter creatine monos are safe and effective, given that they follow the general standard for other mono powders. What I think you need to look out for most is these ridiculous products the likes of which Muscle Tech produces which claim even more ridiculous gains in such a short amount of time. Those are the real offenders in my eyes.

What's an important supplement many people overlook?
Obv not whey or multiple vit. Fish oil is popular but what about some amino acids?
THANK YOU, for your decision to NOT troll this thread (serious).

OH also
Creatine, take it once daily before workout, or once daily after workout, or 2x daily? curious about this for both the loading phase and maintenence phase
Loading phase you're looking at 20-25g a day, spread out evenly, your body can only digest about 50mg/kg of bodyweight at a time so spread it out accordingly. This comes out to about 4-5g at once but people usually take it at and in excess of 5g because optimal digestion levels are not always present, after a week or two of loading, I'd lower it down to 5-10g though some of this should come from your diet.
Oh and lastly, take your creatine down with high-carb drinks for optimal digestion!
