Do what you enjoy. Try to pick an exercise with a good stimulus to fatigue ratio. Low intensity cardio is good, jogging, swimming, elliptical…
It’s all good, if you enjoy it.
Ive been putting way less emphasis on strength these past 10 months or so since I am an old man now and spending 30-45 minutes after strength work doing military style conditioning routines and I gotta say its highly enjoyable. You are working hard during and you feel it, but there's just not the long lasting fatigue of constantly pulling and pushing heavy for a 2 hour workout even with those 5 minute rest periods between deadlifts. I'm more springy, feel decent, not worrying about eating in a surplus all the time to keep gaining strength.
Mentally it just feels better, not worrying if you're going to push or pull an extra 10 pounds at the end of 16 weeks.
