Is there one that stands out above the rest if so, why or are they just marketing gimmicks?
Would like some input from someone who knows his shit.

If you have a good recommendation let me know plz.
Considering getting the cheapest stuff unless someone can convince me otherwise.

There isn't a big enough difference between protein powders except for their macros.

The 3 main things you'll see:
- High protein & high carbs/fats (Weight gainers)
- High protein & low carbs/fats (regular protein powder)
- Casein protein (slow digesting)

Within those 3 big categories, some might offer higher vitamin/mineral contents.

Once you know what you want, the only thing you should concern yourself with is the price.

Sweet I'll buy both whey and pea to try out. I normally throw a scoop into a smoothy every morning.

Which reminds me, is it best to drink it pre or post workout? And timing 30 mins or 2hrs? I am a complete noob when it comes to these things.

not true at all, bio availability of different forms of protein is a huge factor, one I would put above all of those 3 you listed.

the overprice pea protein yields significantly lower bio availability per serving than say standarized whey protein or even beef proteins.

I just read up that plant based proteins unless they are soy are not complete proteins. Whey seems like the gold standard. Most bang for your buck, unless you are vegan or intolerant etc.

Given that the vast majority of protein powders are typically whey, the marginal difference within that type of protein isn't a big enough difference to concern yourself with it too much.

I'm trying to be realistic here. Unless you're competing and need to be hyper precise, a protein powder is just used as a supplement to your diet. Grabbing any whey off the shelf that doesn't taste like shit will be good enough.
