I worked with a trainer I'm getting back into things


He has me doing squats 65% x5 75% x5 then 85% x5+ new training max will be established based on my numbers on the 85

After that I do 5x10 squats at 60% training max



After that I do 5x10 goblets 2 reps in reserve each set


My question is if I'm doing the squats do I need the goblet squats. What purpose are they serving


He act like a hot shot just says trust me bro do them

So I stopped paying him needless to say

Where the fuck is the hamstring work?

Replace goblet trash with hamstring curls.

So basically he's giving you a 5/3/1 template with 2 quads accessories. I'd do like Burn and scratch the goblet squat for sure.

Pick something posterior chain related like:
GHR/Nordic Curl
Leg curl
RDL
SLDL
GM
...

I forgot to mention they are front squats. My back and shoulders are fucked and I can't back squat or press overhead

Deadlifts are good but you want more posterior chain work. Either hamstring curls or hip thrusts.

Definitely drop goblet.

No, I'm just saying the posterior chain is huge. Glutes and hams are massive muscles. You're not gonna hit everything properly with just 1 exercise.

Yeah I agree with you I just workout at home and wondering if I can do rdl instead of thrusts or curls

his percentage breakdown is pretty good, 85% for 5 is a reach unless you're used to going that heavy. his exercise selection isn't great though. instead of those goblet squats I would have you do Goblet Lunges even, and/or add in some hammy work like everyone above me is harping on.
