Hello I started cutting 1 week ago and I've gone down from 204lbs to 196lbs which means 8 pounds in a week
I know the majority of that is water weight but it still seems like a lot for 1 week?
I also feel like I look a little "flat" compared to the prior week

I eat about 1800-2000 cals a day and get around 170-190g of protein (depends on the day)
So my question is: am I losing weight too quickly and do I need to increase my calories?

I lost probably close to 10 lbs the first week.. It slows down, as long as you're hitting your cals and your goal for macros you'll be fine.

1800 calories? What are you, the mountain? Dude you need to lower that to actually lose some fat, those 8 lbs was all water weight, you won't see any progress in fat loss with that calorie count

Hes not wrong... the average mid to late 20s male will burn around 2000 to 2200 calories with light activity .

He wouldnt even be losing a pound a week eating 1800 unless he is doing activity to burn more cals

1800 is almost a 500 cal deficit. For someone to sit on their ass all day, it's plenty lol. Guy made it sound like he was WAY off target

thats true it was an exaggeration, and 1800 would be mild weight loss.

But it won't provide the 8-10 lbs a week this dude is expecting to lose for sure.

8-10 lbs a week is obtained by eating 500 cals and vomiting it back up
