How many cals do you initially drop?

Iirc it's better to go straight into the deficit rather than drop to maintenance for a little while and continue dropping from there. Do we all agree?

E/ and do you go for a 20% deficit (~500 kcal) or a 250 kcal deficit?

I can't edit op but I'm also curious on how you guys change your workouts. This is the part I struggle with most.

I try to maintain intensity and drop volume. For the life of me I don't know how people gain strength while cutting - particularly people that aren't new and have a decent amount of training under their belt.

Also wondering when you guys drop volume.. Straight away or a few weeks in when you notice recovery seems shitty

Side note, I've been consistently training for 4-5 months after a year off and just did my maxes
Squat 135kg
Dead 150kg
Bench 105kg
Ohp 65kg

Pretty stoked tbh

Run a strength program on a cut, something with slowish progression (atleast weekly, maybe monthly.) madcows, Bill starrs program, maybe even wendlers 531

I think I should stay on my current routine (it's basically a full body strength program anyway) and I think it'll be easier to feel whether I lose strength.

Thoughts?

E/ how do you find going up in strength on a deficit?

That will help me when I start to stagnate fat loss, yes, but many of my questions are still valid. Give them a read when you get a chance mate

Anyhow while we're on reverse dieting, what do you think is the optimal amount to increase cho and fat if the goal is for maximal muscle whilst minimal fat gain; increasing fast for more calories is not a concern for me as I've never been a big eater naturally.
