About 9 days ago landed on my shoulder. Took me awhile to gather myself. Couldn't really lift my arm at all at first. Continued to instinctually try to throw a frisbee and it hurt like hell. I still can't throw a frisbee now. I was hoping it was just a small bruise and would go away soon. I can manage certain rows. My trap was really sore and it still hurt a little doing squat but I managed. As well as deadlift, just slight pain. But any sort of pressing or throwing motion, it's super painful still. Don't think I can even do a push-up.

To describe the pain more. Unracking a bench is ok but when I lower it to my chest it's the most painful near the bottom of the rep, end of the eccentric and then through the concentric.

Should I go see a doctor? Or just wait another week. Don't have free healthcare here so I don't wanna be a puss basically.

Mainly looking for input from cloud kicker or others on a similar level of intelligence, no offense gise.

Making sure your body isn't broken doesn't make you as a puss. :/

Look for a step deformity in the mirror (google) with your shirt off to visualize ac joint. Details about how you landed would help. Did you internally or externally rotate on landing? Was your shoulder extended or abducted? Did you hear a pop or feel a snap? Do you have restricted range of motion? Go through all of your shoulder planes, so try flexing, extending, abducting, internal and external rotation. Try producing torque during each of these motions (have somebody resist your movement) and see what produces pain or what doesnt

Only thing noticeable was slight swelling. I basically dove face first and twisted in air to land on my shoulder so I guess it would have had to rotate internally. Shoulder was abducted. Didn't hear a pop or snap, but it has popped a few times since. Once I swung at a fly suddenly and it popped real bad with a lot of pain. As far as restricted range of motion. I can do arm circles but barely. Great pain especially doing backwards ones. And on the eccentric front raise during forward arm circles. Also when I do like a tricep stretch, (put elbow up and pull back on it with other arm) it causes a lot of pain. Yeah but I think chest flyes and actual benching are the most painful (I don't do those of course lol)

Pain testing: pulling apart on my hands hurts but not too bad. Pressing is painful. Pulling is ok. What hurt real bad is doing the opposite of a lateral raise but rather going the other way as if doing an arm across (chest stretch). Obviously laying on it is painful still

Yeah but hearing parents bicker about medical bills is never fun. What a wonderful private insurance healthcare industry the us has

My physio said one of his patients had full shoulder reconstruction surgery as a result of a complete tear of his shoulder from landing on it in ultimate frisbee...

Doesn't sound like your issue is as bad since you can move your arm, but I'd get it checked out big time.

yea like cloud mentioned, ive heard AC joint injury is common with falls, when landing on shoulder

friend played soccer as a goalie, and ended up damaging his AC joint, cause of falling repeatedly

also where is that lightman, still grumpy?

Step deformity would be the result of an acute injury and essentially tells you that you separated your ac joint. Other than that you may have subluxed your glenohumeral joint. The mechanism is pretty classic, abducted arm and basically hitting the ground with your armpit. Maybe some capsular stretching and ligament sprain but you wouldn't be able to move at all if it dislocated. I would say go see your primary for msk testing, the shoulder is a relatively unstable joint when it's healthy so even though you didn't break any bones and your musculature seems to be intact, if you have a small tear in some ligament or even a labral issue it can snowball down the road. If you really want to avoid issues with your health care ride it out but if you lose range, increase pain or it doesn't seem to regain function in 2 to 3 weeks I would go in.

Obviously I can't see you or touch your arm so what I'm offering as advice is very limited and broad.
