I hear all the time how some boxing gyms are not legit and train you poorly. Any advice on seeking out a proper gym? What should i expect being an amateur at 24 (almost 25) years old?

I do have some background from being in the military. I understand what it means to put in hard work and to be disciplined so i believe that already puts me above some amateurs

I love the idea of having a trainer. Someone who constantly helps me to improve agility, stamina and overall boxing abilities through a strict training regime

boxing training is alllll bout repetition to learn technique. Dont bother sparring until you know what to do for technique.

Training with someone is gg. Especially when they are experienced. Particularly because a good partner with the mitts essentially counters your movements.. Not just standing there with their arms up like you see in basic af gyms.

e/ and a good coach will obv be experienced, usually someone who has won professional matches.

Easiest metric for whether a gym is legit or not: do active, competitive boxers train there?

Also depends on what your goals are; if you want to be competitive, or if not actively competing, being in that kind of shape.

If you just want some time on the heavy bag and focus mitts, and some circuit routines thrown in, any old gym will do.

If you want to be competitive, or be on-par with people who are, gotta go where they train.

Try BJJ, boxing is for plebs. Plus having dicks in your face is a nice change of pace (no homo) and there's no greater motivation to best some dudes ass than having his dick in your face. You won't find that with boxing
