I've been off lifting for 6-12 months qq partying/school/got lazy.
I remember the light man preaching to go full body training 3x week if you're on novice status, like current me.

Anybody got some good full body programs? I'm thinking going on that phaggot Jason Blaha's 5x5 program.
But I kinda want Hypertrophy gains > strength atm .. In a bid to use muscle memory and quickly get back some of the size I had. @cloudkicker , thoughts on this??

Should I do 4x7, rather than 5x5 for this purpose too?

I saw it but didn't realize I was addressed in it at first. Then I started a response and didn't finish it cause I'm not great at programming. In reality I'm a physiologist and an amateur weight lifter at best but my take is that there isn't much actual difference between 5x5 and 4x7. You get an extra 3 reps of volume with a 4x7 scheme at a slightly reduced weight. I think as long as you are sure the resistance you choose puts you near failure for both schemes it won't make a difference. WRT frequency, yes you get more bang for your buck (time investment) using a higher frequency routine but you're going to hate your life doing the big three, 3 times a week for the first 2 weeks. That's a lot of volume to shove right in your face all at once but after that little beginning hump you will do well.

5x5 and 4x7 is literally only 3 more total reps.

If you really want hypertrophy, I'd either up the total volume or cut rest times.

For Jason's program, deadlifts are only workout B, so they would be once or twice a week.

Should I try find a a full body workout that has them each session?
Do you know of a better routine? I can do 4x sessions a week if that's better but I read Jason's is a1
