So what types of training do you incorporate in your training system?

I like to think of my body as an all inclusive thing so it needs different training types.
I see many people sitting at the gym, doing some jogging for cardio and then pumping some iron and then they go home. (repeat for x amount of time)

But what type of training are you doing? are you actually effectively working out? are you truley fit?

what about all the other types of training you might not be incorporating.

Flexibility training (oh sure you stretched, but i mean real flexibility training sessions)
isometric/static strength training. (you might incorporate, you may not.
Speed training (who cares if your super strong if your super slow and visa versa)
Balance training (gotta be able to have balance to do alot of shit)
Explosive training (gotta get that explosive power, how can you have that adrenaline strength to carry a car?)
Strength training (well your pumping iron i suppose that counts)
Theory Training (how can you understand your body if you dont know shit about it)
Endurance Training (How long can you hang for? how long can you hold your breath? How long could you run if an animal was chasing you?)
Lifestyle training (Do you stand up using your hands? do you sit in ways that help build flexibility or are you sittin on the couch with bad posture and not really trying to develop anything but bad habits?)
Breathing practice?

Movement training (if your old and cant move effectively when you were young, your gonna move even shittier when your old) <---- i think this is important

what type of training style do you have?

I personally am starting to change alot of the ways i think about fitness and what being fit really is?

Just think about how many types of training types there are all the above mentioned are gym related activities how often do you spend time doing them?

So what if you can bench 10 plates?
can you invert? can you sprint? can you roll? can you run for 8hours? can you walk a tight rope? can you do the splits? can you even breath efficiently? Can you move gracefully?

i really want people to discuss here if possible about your training style, and what you think is effective training or if we shouldn't even care about the other things.

IMO
you gotta have it all to call it working out, just building strength and muscle through pumping iron for health purposes (maybe image okay) but for health purposes seems to be a little
counter productive, you specialize in lifting weights and then your body pays a price of mobility, flexibility, balance, etc etc because your not working on those aswell.

Most of examples you posted are suited for certain purposes or functions. While it would be nice to have the whole package that would be really hard and take a long time. I think most of the people here either train for strength for power lifting or just for size. Id like to be athletic overall.. speed mobility flexibility balance strength and power.. but i dont play any sports.

/e and i dont really think you can have it all.. if your a 300 lb power lifter you probably arent going to be flexible or fast.. and if your fast and flexible you probably arent going to be the biggest guy in the gym.. in most cases anyways.

I train like a machine, a terminator, a gladiator, a mad man, foam at the mouth, popping eyes, slight erection, singlet-wearing, muscle tearing, no surprise, no confuse, ready to fuck, ready to die, playing in traffic, live by the iron, live or die...

isometric (is endurance in itself, but so is cardio), strength, mobility.

they're all practical for me. #1 is general health, of course. all your other muscles are worthless if your heart is shitty. leading cause of death where i live is heart disease, that's kind of stuck with me.

then it helps big time having a physically demanding and challenging job. also a great motivation, when training helps your livelihood.

least importantly, i was born with broad shoulders and good genetics so i'm really happy with how i look as long as i remain active. lets me focus on training that is oriented on functionality with no worries.

this is a good thread, cause everybody has different goals and motives for doing different types of training. it's always interesting to hear what things people focus on and why. only it maybe isn't such a good thread for this sf since it's mostly egolifters.
