I work on a computer pretty much all day networking and about the past week i've been waking up with a small twinge in my lower back. Wake up this morning & back was just wrecked. First I'd suggest you getting a new office chair, they're are a BUNCH that are specifically designed to "prop" you up almost like you're on a throne so your back cannot slouch. They're uncomfortable at first but really worth it in the long run for your backs health.
I can't comment on you doing work outs until I know what your physical level is.

If you want to use "baby steps" into this transition get a bosu ball first and try it out. I used them for a while but I prefer these now.
