I went in yesterday for a stress test, I'm 29, 5'9", 178lbs +/- water weight. Kinda chubby still i guess, better than the 205 i was looking at a year and a half ago. The doctor said I did great on the physical part walking and running on the treadmill, i went to the level 4 max then he bumped it up to 7mph running uphill for 1.5minutes extra to get my heart rate up to 185.

I recently had bloodwork done too, everything came back excellent, cholesterol, blood pressure, ....getting all my nutrients and stuff they said im in pretty good health for my age group.

Anyway the scans they did on my heart with the radioactive juice that absorbs in my bloodstream came back not so good. Normally they said 55-65% is typical,(mind you these tests are designed for 60-80yr old people, doc never said the test was for my age group) but i guess my heart is only working at 47%. They have me slated to go back in july 8th to find out where the blockages/ restrictions are.

My parents both died in their 40's, dad was 43, mom was 48. Both cardiac arrest. My dad suffered half a dozen before he passed but my mom only had one. Doctors were too slow figuring out wtf was wrong. That in mind I figured I better get checked and its good that I did, obviously.

So I have a few questions I should have asked the doctor probably but didnt think of it in time.

1-Does the reduced bloodflow hinder potential gains in the gym? The doctor said I should definitely keep on working out, the nurse practicioner said it probably wouldnt matter if i quit tobacco(did last month anyway) and worked out and ate healthy, it could be hereditary and theres nothing I can do...i wanted to smack her lol.

2-would it help or hurt to double dose on some creatine, maybe dilate the arteries and veins to promote better bloodflow? I typically drink 8-10 17oz bottles of water a day.

3- are there any ways at all to help my situation? Natural supplements , daily life practices, anything. Its almost like I'm looking at a 15 year death sentence, +/-.

Creatine does not do this. Only 5gr a day can be absorbed by your body, extra will leave in your piss.

In fact, I would stop using any form of supplement and see if there is any change on your next test. I don't want you to die a virgin, bro

if you have a familial condition, time is somewhat limited, but continuing to practice good lifestyle choices can help - now that you and your doctor are getting the diagnostics going things will look up. Stay positive and keep exercising as per your doctors instructions. Quitting smoking is brutal at first, but you can quickly see the benefits to your quality of life after.

To actually answer your questions:

1. Yes... limited blood flow to the heart limits your cardiovascular ability (endurance) and limitation to the muscles may slow growth and limit exercise capacity, leading to a lesser workout. Yes you should continue to exercise and give up smoking.

2. Probably wouldn't help much at all --- i don't think additional supplementation of creatine is shown to improve many conditions other than certain muscular conditions and such... unless you find studies showning benefit with reasonable success and statistical significance, there isn't a need.

3. Eat well - speak to a dietitian regarding your specific condition, exercise according to your MDs instructions, sleep well, give up smoking and live life with basic commonsense for your overall health.

I was using snuff for years, i smoked for a little bit when i was younger but that was easy to give up, especially after I realized the reduced lung capacity had such a big impact on my overall well being. I ha e given up tobacco but now I've been using a vaporizer... They don't have the same side effects as smoking like the reduced lung capacity and stench but I'm just weening myself off nicotine with it. Hopefully soon i'll be able to ditch that too.

Anyway I think the main questions were answered, thanks!

The other problem is my chest hair.... They had to get the chainsaw and weedeater out to clear patches for the electrodes they stuck to my chest during the test and it itches like crazy. Im tempted to hack it all off but I dont know it just doesnt seem right. Feels crazy though with bare patches under my shirt.

if the problem is the weak heart contractions, cardio should help and be beneficial for your heart and overall health

if the problem is obstruction or vasoconstriction of arteries or valve problem, it might require surgery or meds depending on what it is

tbh, play it safe, stay away from bad habits and exercise regularly to put all the chances on your side, best of luck
