Okay, so I am joining the airforce, and I am trying to go special operations (TACP) so I have to take the PAST test, well the last time I took it, I only hit 38/48 sit-ups, now I think the real reason was because I unlocked my hands they DQd me for that, so the PAST test is a test that consists of.

1.5 mile run
Pull-ups
Sit-ups
Push-ups

Now I have been lifting for the last 6 months hard, but never really focused on core, you think If I for the next 2 weeks, since I take the test June 2nd, if the next 2 weeks everyday I follow this workout

1.5 mile run
4x8 Pull-ups
4x15 Sit-ups
4x25 Push-ups

If I follow that do you think i will be alright? I am scared of failing the test again and looking like a bitch.

Well the easy answer is no.. For hotshots it's the same test but idk what your required times are but some of the things I do is 5+ miles one day and 2 miles the next and keep alternating. After the run I super set 30 push ups, 30 sit ups, and 5 pull ups for 12sets changing the type of each exercise every 3 sets like instead of crunches do leg lifts

if you do the same exercise every day, you'll obviously get better at doing that one thing.

look into bicycle crunches, it's just a better workout all-around. hits lower abs and obliques as well.

it's even worse what the NCOs preach to soldiers to improve their situp score

"Don't let yourself down gently, slam your back against the ground so you get a bounce at the bottom"

In defense of the situps, what other way can you validate a test for core? In regards to military testing mass people at once. The PT test (pushups/situps/run) is more of a tradition every branch is afraid of breaking.

Obviously a plank is superior, yet how can you test people on that? And pushing planks to failure can be even more destructive to the back no?

In the Marines bootcamp, which is suppose to the be hardest. Only 1/4 of my platoon could climb a rope. They had super easy obstacle courses and people couldnt carry their own body weight, they couldnt complete them but still passed bootcamp. Everyone still passed. Even though they all failed most of it, they still passed.

There are no requirements, you signed your life over and the fact they have requirements is just a mind game.

Edit:

looks at fat cops

look at fat firemen

the only people not fat are special forces and those who pursue fitness on their personal time. there are no requirements unless you join something that the masses cant do and they really need to start making requirements. Like Special forces.

...but even then, your helicopter could be sold by obama to his buddies and they give away your position for target practice. All the training you did just doesnt matter when your leaders and politicians run the show.

this is why I left. I challenged their law, I left without permission. They said its so much trouble, they will hunt you down. All mind games....nobody came to my house I even stayed there and not one military official came to my door. They are nothing but mindless followers carrying out tyrant politicians orders of war and pointless death.

I hope you can do something more productive then me and waste time in the military.

If u ever want out just go AWOL for 8 months and come back to get your discharge, easy and least negative impact on your record. They also cannot bother you anymore because your banned its a win/win.

crunches. situps are more of a hip flexor exercise, the abdominals do a little work at the start of the movement as you flex the spine and then the hip flexors move you the other 3/4 of the way. also i dont wanna rip out lumbar spine ligaments with a shitty core exercise that doesnt even utilize my core very much
