To drop about 20 lbs I plan on making myself a meal plan that is consistent in calories, not deviating from it for 5 weeks, and then try to exercise as much as possible.

Is this a good way to go about it?

tl/dr version:
Last summer I was weighing in at 260 lbs. Came here for some tips, and it was unanimous that I should eat less and run. I started counting my calories and trying to keep it in check and started jogging/biking 2-3 times a week.
I dropped to 200lbs. Over the winter I am pretty proud to say that I am maintaining pretty well. I am still weighing in at 200lbs. Which is a triumph for me because the holidays are usually pretty bad for me.
Warm weather is approaching and I plan on trying to bring weight down to 180lb. I was thinking of making myself of meal plan that is consistent in calories and trying to stick with it for 5 weeks. It doesn't necessarily mean I won't be eating anything or a very much, but trying to have a better handle on what I eat. And then continuing to exercise 2-3 times a week, maybe take the bike to work instead of driving, stuff like that. Is this good or safe, or is trying for too much all at once?

20 pounds in a few months. In my opinion that is doable and wont be that unhealthy.

Say you start now. You have March, April , May, June . Thats 5 pounds per month / roughly 1.25 per week.

That is not bad at all.

Edit , oh shit i missed the 5 week part.

Rofl , no, you will just drop water weight and gain it back.

Aim for Mid June or July in my opinion.

Yea I think maximum 1lb / week.

Imo you shouldn't set such short term goals, health/fitness is a life long goal.

Try to work out more than 2 times a week. I'd aim for 3-4 and try to only lose 1 lb/week. Some people are naturally better at losing weight than others but it's the general rule as being the best way to go about it.

Generally speaking running a 500 cal/day deficit will yield 1lb a week of fat loss.

maybe calcium and other joint and bone defeciency.

a lot of my joints still pop, but they used to hurt also. after taking the calcium and msm they dont hurt anymore and i dont reaall notice much cracking but they still do crack donnoo what to say

i think its normal if you have overused your joints without the minerals to supply minerals to the rebuilding of the bones, ligaments and tendons.

especially if you live in america where everyone is fat and has cancer because they dont eat veggies and fruit and most;y processed crap.

most problems are nutrition defeciencies i think. open for discussion.
