I hit a PR of 455x1 recently. Today I did 415x3 and tore my callus on my left hand(letf is reverse gripped on heavy deads) the upper top digit callus. Stung like a bitch, but wasn't that bad, ripped off the excess skin and got rdy for my second heavy set.

Did 430x2 and my left hand was just feeling so weak and like it was the only thing holding me back. On the 2nd rep I tore my upper pinky callus worse than the ring finger. Hurts and the skin flap is bigger and trying to rip it was to painful.

Now I'm sketching out that I can't do heavy deads Cuz my left hand... I pull over 400 pretty easily but my left hand always weakens and the weight slips. I cant keep tearing callus's.

Should I use straps on anything above 400 and do more grip training in the mean time? Or what do u guys think.

I had a trumatic injury to my left wrist 2 years back. Cut 6 tendons and the median nerve. I'm afraid I might have permanent weakness in my left hand no matter what I do.

Anyways just looking for some input. I'm thinking about using straps on 405+ and doing more heavy farmer walks and pause deadlifts etc in hopes of strengtheing my grip.

I had the same problem.

When you grip the bar, stop including the loose skin in between the bottom of your fingers and the middle of your hand in your grip. Grab it purely with your fingers. Use straps or chalk to recover the callous,.

Chalk . I used to trim my callouses with a nail clipper when I lifted heavy otherwise they would tear.

Or.... hold the bar correctly in your fingers not the palm or your hand and never rip calluses or fail on grip again

I already use fingers and not Palm. My fingers slowly slide open tho on heavy lifts Cuz my grip isn't strong enough I guess.

I do use chalk as well and a lot of it lol.

I think its just my grip gives out and my fingers loosen which allows for the bar to slip and rip them.

It's the tiny callus's on on the middle of my finger not the huge Palm callus's. Those ones are fine.

These ones. The ring finger and pinky. Like I said they aren't that bad. But I definetly don't want it happening everytime I deadlift heavy...

I cut the skin flaps off with nail clippers. Worked well

I feel really week when i lift like this gripping the bar tight as fuck usually transfers up my body through my back etc and keeps everything tight
