November 27th I will be doing my first 5k.
Plenty of time to train for it, goal is 22 mins. I've practiced a course and ran in about 25 mins.

Does 8 weeks seem like enough time to drop from 25 mins to 22 mins?

That's plenty. 5k is just a shade over 3 miles.

You're shooting for a 7 minute mile, maybe 7:15. I'm in pretty mediocre shape, as far as cardio goes, and I know I could do that.

Especially with 8 weeks? As long as you don't psych yourself out, this is all you, all day, mang. :)

Yea I really hope I can hit 22 mins, in high school I was always last on the mile runs. Like 13 min mile, had to walk a lot of it too.

Today did about 4.5 miles with a friend, he does 18 min 5ks being out of shape.

So when he's out of shape, he runs 5k in 18 min...? Hard to believe

Out of shape as in, he's in school right now so only runs about 3-4 times a week.
He has been running all his life and his dad is also a runner. Running is like all they do.

3 miles at 8:20 a mile (25 min. total) is a pretty slow pace. It's just a shade above a slow jog.

A 7:15 - 7:20 mile (which is what you're shooting for, for your goal) requires little extra exertion.

And again, with 8 weeks out to train, the only way you could **not** do this is if you injure yourself badly, or if you start doing the cake and pie bulk. :P

Well main thing I worry about is the weather, last event they did it was like 20 degrees.
Also I tend to get sick ez, so if I catch a cold or sniffles then it's gonna fuck up my breathing.

k stands for kilometers

my best time for a 5k is 16:45, used to like running before i started lifting

to improve your time try both longer and shorter distances, see what are your weaknesses and work on them

for me it's more my body that gave up before my cardio
