You have to actively think about what you're comprehending and analyze it as you go.
For example if I'm reading Huck Finn and he makes a remark about slavery, you should be thinking
about slavery, why did he say this about it, etc.
Don't know if that's overly important though
I normally actively read and remember most things.. but very often I'm lazy and literally skim over an article with no analysis or intention for deep comprehention and still remember it well lol
I think the key for a good memory, apart from genetics, deciding what's salient to you and figuring out your niche.. aka HOW you learn best.. ie auditory vs visual. Idiosyncrasies govern all tbh
