Alright well I recently moved into the top of a Semi in North York with 2 of my buddies. It's a 4 bedroom and we decided to turn the Master Bedroom into a home gym.

Prior to moving in with them I had a decent personal gym with enough free weights to efficiently work out any body part I wanted. Now that we have significantly more space, we each plan on investing a bit more into used equiptment from Kijiji/craigslist. Everything pictured here was purchased for $350 off craigslist, and we plan on investing $700-1000+ more into the gym.

The room itself is a rectangle and measures roughly 14ft 3in x 9ft 8in, has 8ft high ceilings and boasts a large 7ft 4in x 2ft closet.

As you can see, the room can be arranged in many ways and is currently being used as both a gym and a burning room. Eventually the table will be removed and probably the rack of dumbbells will be placed in the closet (unless someone can think of something better to use the closet for).

As it stands, we're planning on investing in:
  • Squat Rack
  • Lat Pulldown?
  • Incline/Decline Bench
  • More Free Weights
  • Heavier Dumbbells

Squat rack because the walk out squats for my bench are a pain in the ass
Some sort of Pulley machine, ideally multi function
Basically we want another bench so 2 people could doing an exercise and not have to wait on one another.
And the heavier weights/dumbbells are fairly obvious

TL;DR Look at these pictures and tell me what you think we need to add to this home gym.

Keep in mind we'll be buying everything used, so basically we want to start keeping an eye out for it now. Let me know what else you guys think needs to be added.

Yeah that's definitely the plan. Weights will probably be one of the last things we get, as we'll hold out to find a good deal after we get a squat rack / proper rubber flooring.

Save yourself money and get a gym membership.

Inb4 friends start fighting over who pays for what and ownership rights when you move out.

Edit: room way to small not even worth the hassle

Cheaper to just hit a gym and more motivation at a gym, seeing bitches+ swole nigs will help motivate you. Would never want to workout in my own house unless I was loaded and could build a legitimate weight room.

e- also a lot more equipment available at a real gym.

There's a difference between working with what you got and wasting your time

Get a flat bench and some dumbbells and that should appease your roommates and go get a gym membership

We plan on being here for a few years and plan on buying things individually so we keep tabs on whose is what. At the end when someone wants to move out they can take it / sell it. I don't foresee any problems with that to tbh.

I find it to be the opposite actually, I find there to be many more distractions at the gym. I'm much more motivated at home, especially when it's just me and a couple buddies working out.

The room itself has quite a bit of potential, and we're for sure investing more.
