There is this place in alaska where there is a huge gold and copper deposit, they said theres about 500 billion dollars worth of gold there, do u think they should mine it? Btw if they do theres also a fragile habitat of fish over there where if they mine it they could ruin a breeding ground of salmon over there and kill off the fish. So if they mine it they could ruin the ecosystem there do u think they should just say fuck it and open the mine?

If they own the mineral rights in whole it's kind of up to them. They could possibly responsibly and reasonably displace the fragile habitat, considering they stand to make a huge fortune off the back of it anyway.

Only other thing to consider is how you prolong operation, to not bust the good market while it exists.



In light of this and many other places you can see why trying to tackle the whole thing at once just doesn't pen out in the short run.

The value of that land and mineral right will stick very closely to scarcity, so if they don't get to mining right away they can rely upon other sources getting pulled up first.
Long term its much cheaper to use resources that aren't yours in the grand scheme of supply chains, with money being the flexible exchange.

Gold is a material to be used much like anything else about the earth; don't know how you are reading desecration into inanimate objects. Is it ordained or blessed, meant to be left in its pure form never to modify its purity? (Or impurity as is the case with ore). I mean I'll put the question forth in respect to God, I assume if I don't get a resounding sign that says otherwise its safe to choose our own course.
