Any idea what cold turkey is?

when you quit (lets say smoking) cold turkey, it means you go from smoking to never smoking again

or taking like 4 pain killers a day to quitting cold turkey and never taking another one again

think of turkey, then think of it being cold.

It just means to end something abruptly. If you smoke a pack of cigarettes a day and want to quit cigarettes, to quit cold turkey would mean to quit on the spot. There is no easing off, no reducing it to half a pack a day, then a few day, until you quit all together over a period of time. If you threw out your cigarettes and never touched them again, that would be quitting cold turkey.

Not a matter of good or bad, it can definitely be a hard way to end something.

when you quit something cold turkey you have to just stop doing whatever your quitting forever!
