Yes - calculate how much you were going to spend on the game, and then take a pile of money half that large and burn it. You've just used an algorithm to save half your money, gz.

The algorithm is to take your money to a different game.
Run some double dozens or columns at the roulette table or something.

I was told the algorithm to prevent losing too much goes like this.

Keep the maximum you are willing to lose in your right pocket. When you win, replenish to that amount in your right pocket. Any excess goes to the left pocket.

Once the right pocket is gone you quite, and cash in the left pocket.

Guaranteed to never lose more than you are willing, and should come out with losing less / winning some if you're lucky.
