Any Free, Fun, Challenging Games? - Topic

So I left my fiance of 3 and a half years this past weekend and moved back home to find myself again and save up some money.
Unfortunately the internet out here BLOWS (went from 60 down 8 up to .86 down .49 up) and I can no longer play games online (i can but i lag so bad that i cant move etc).

So I'm looking for free single-player games that are actually challenging. Tried to get back into /players 8 hardcore single player diablo 2 and got bored pretty quick.
any ideas guys?

na, i'm enjoying the "be single and do whatever you want with whoever you want" game better. that's the nice thing about being back in your hometown

Not all "challenging", but games I like that are single player/don't require much in the way of internet
