I've also tried medium rare at times, but for some reason it bothers my stomach. I guess it's cause I have a weak stomach? Not sure but for now I stick with well done. Honestly I like well done the most anyway, the taste for me is most preferred for my preference. But that's just me.

If meat is fantastic then i will usually cook it rare or medium rare.
if it's a rump or sirloin then i would go medium.
in certain restaurants ive been known to order tartare, it can be incredibly good raw.

And my brother in law actually likes stuff rare, especially if we eat out at a restaurant. His food always gets to the table before all of us cause it's cooked so quick.
