As a paramedic, my wife wants us to move to Australia.

I have family there that I've barely met.

Have you been down there before?

Maybe consider a compromise of some kind? Perhaps you can give it a go for a couple of years as a test run and see how you feel about it at that point with a huge option available to go back if you miss your family and friends too much? Will you be making enough that you'll be able to go back and forth at least once a year, coz that can cut WAY down on the feeling that you're just abandoning the family (though far from entirely).

That's how I did it when my fiancee wanted to live in North Carolina and I wanted to live in California, at least.

That didn't work out well, right? Lol
