Is it against the law for a 30 year old man to possess sexually explicit photos of a 13 year old boy if they are just photos of himself that were taken 17 years ago? Or does it have to be photos of a different person in order to be a crime?

I'm pretty sure you could be charged for it. Teenagers have been charged with distributing child pornography for sending out pictures of themselves, so it stands to reason that possession would count as well.
