About a week ago I randomly started getting a high pitched ringing in my ear that was a constant presence and was especially bothersome when I would lay down in my quiet bedroom to go to sleep. During the day its not as bad because I can distract myself and mask it with sounds of daily activities.

Lately though the ringing has gotten very loud when I lay down and masking sounds like music and meditation relaxation discs aren't working because the infernal ringing still comes through, probably because I'm focused on it from being so irritated with it.

Anyone else have insomnia and struggling to fall asleep now?

my doctor thought it was impacted wax so removed the wax from my ear, but still ringing

Some are just susceptible / hypersensitive, it's not necessarily onset by damage. Usually impacted wax also can cause an itchy / unclean feeling.
Keeping the mind occupied on here is probably not helping the insomnia though.

honestly i've been really worried that its because of something serious, and my WebMD has caused me to self diagnose myself as having a brain tumor and acoustic neuroma

simply because i've had sharp headaches and such lately on top of the obnoxious ringing... but everything besides that is fine

Work it out with your doctor if it's a major concern, the solution won't be achieved overnight at any rate.
