Brush before and after sleep
Dentist Cleaning every 6 months, which if you brush good, isn't even needed that often, doesn't hurt and it's good for a checkup.

Highly unneeded. Unless they really want your money they will probably advise against it.
I will be honest, until recently I hadn't been to the dentist in like 4 or 5 years.
I had almost zero build up on my teeth because I brushed so good.

problem is not everyone brushes so well. i always had problems with the gumline, but the dentist never said anything about it. eventually i moved and found a closer dentist, who said i had a lot of gum issues. my gums bleeding a bit from flossing has always been normal to me, so i didnt think much of it. she recommended an electric toothbrush + waterpik and it improved a lot. i used to have a lot of 4-5mm pockets in my gums, but many of them have since improved to 3-4mm.

I use a nice little electric brush myself, and floss when I brush.
Usually never use mouth wash though. :P
