art, music, self-expression, identification with likeminded individuals in art etc. is overrated and sometimes incredibly pretentious and self-indulgent. i feel like these people should be transported to africa and forced to live in a hut, in their own shit for a year.

i find myself being very hostile towards most forms of self-expression lately, to the point where i write off genuine artistic acheivements made by real people. it's just that i don't feel like most of these people are being genuine in their work, or that what they create takes any skill at all. in other words i think it's fucking crap.

also, as a bonus, is the point of modern art to make you feel stupid and confused?

i remember going on a date with this one girl. she pointed to an empty champagne bottle covered with candle wax, then proceeded to say that this could be art. i remember becoming extremely confused. then she started putting bottles on top of each other thinking she was creating some kind of art thingy. i told her i thought it was stupid.

i was kinda drunk and i regret it now ofc.

guess she values artistic and personal freedom more than she values following specific patterns to reach her goals.
