i didn't go to graduation at my 4 year school. my friend went to her graduation after her associates

I'm fairly sure it's more or less an American thing - they're public colleges that only offer the first two years of university and usually also have a few trade schools attached as well. So you can get an Associate's Degree, or a welder's certificate, or a nursing degree, etc.

Unique to them is a 'transfer degree,' which you can take to a four year university in order to start as a Junior. The biggest benefit - they're heavily subsidized, so they're much more affordable, and poor kids can usually get a free ride.

Basically, not going to Community/Jr. College is dumb unless you have a giant pile of money. :P
