I often beat myself up over financial losses, being scammed/conned/robbed etc.

happened recently for just under $500 and i keep obsessing over it.. its only $500 !! why wont my mind let it go ? I really have a problem, like an OCD..

So - I'm wondering how i'll possibly cope when i have to deal with something serious.. like a death..

bit worried that it will push me over the edge..

how to deal with loss?

it seems that your problem isn't dealing with loss, but that you look at money as a way to validate yourself and find happiness.

you got robbed for 500$, im just gonna assume drugs were involved and you can't report it. If you can don't deal with it, get ur $ back.

First off, disregard any reply saying 'Money is just money, you can get it back'. If that was YOUR money, money that YOU earned, it's not just lost money, it's lost TIME.

Second, you should be right to beat yourself up over it. It's GOOD to do such a thing, because if you work as an hourly worker, your time directly translates to money. Parts of your LIFE are VALUED. If you lose that money, it's equivalent to losing a day from your life. If you beat yourself up over it, you'll be more wary of scams and uneasy situations, and you'll be quicker to avoid them.

In short, learn from your mistakes.

You deal with it by continuing with your daily life largely unaffected, even if you constantly think about it and live with the pain every day. You get used to it, there is no time to feel sorry for yourself.
