People that are overweight should focus more on healthy food choices, moderate exercise, and replacing bad habits with good ones

There is a reason most people fail at losing weight and often gain even more.

They need to conquer their food addiction and crashing the carbs isn't the way to start

they need to eat less than they use and focus on nutrition, when bad habits and the addiction is overcome they can then focus on a perfect plan for their body

considering it's mostly unhealthy foods that are loaded with carbs anyway, eating a healthy diet will almost always result in a lower level of carb intake, it's not exactly necessary or even healthy to go full keto long term

It's calories that determine your propensity to lose weight

not all calories are equal, proteins/fats/carbs are metabolized differently

That's pretty hurtful to hear, what's the cause if that's not too personal?

I have fibromyalgia, the pain medications don't help, they hinder my ability to stay awake, which obviously stops me from being a mother and also being active/getting exercise.

My problem is that I eat like shit
I make sure to focus on my son eating well and then take care of everything necessary around the house (dishes, laundry, general cleaning up after a five year old) then I just don't give a fuck about what I grab to eat.
It also hurts to stand to prepare food, I know I'm making excuses, so I know that that's my issue.
I don't eat much but what I do eat isn't always the best.
I legitimately hate fast food, so I try to avoid it, but that doesn't mean my diet is great.

Carbs something are 4 calories per gram, whereas protein is 4 and fats are 9. A similar amount of each type of food would correspond to a higher caloric intake of fats, if anything. But still, a normal diet of 300g carbs a day and 100g fat + 1xx or 2xx g of protein there is ample opportunity for overweight people to lose weight

I used to be bigger/fatter and I never went to a single fast food. We are our biggest enemy.

The fact is the more carbs you eat the more you're required to exercise just to prevent fat storage, carbs have a much larger effect on insulin than protein and fats do because they're directly metabolized to glucose, and because carbs are the first source of energy used by the body you aren't burning any fat unless you burn through most of the carbs first. If you don't, excess glucose in your blood results in a higher insulin spike and more fat storage
