Jeebus, the amount of stupid in this thread is astounding.
The AR in the name AR-15 stands for Armalite, the company that originally developed it.
The term "assault weapon" is a political misnomer coined by Josh Sugarmann, executive director of the Violence Policy Center, a gun control group. This terminology was intended to create confusion about, and expand the scope of, weapons that would be pursued by the as yet non-passed Assault Weapons Ban of 1994. What are commonly referred to as assault weapons are a series of semi-automatic rifles that have a specific list of cosmetic features, such as a collapsable stock, flash suppressor, pistol grip, or an accessory rail. These "assault weapons" are functionally no different than the Marlin Model 60 22LR rifle, or the Sig Sauer P220 45ACP pistol that I own. All of them will fire one, and only one round when the trigger is pulled.
An actual assault rifle is a rifle that has a fire select capability to fire either single shot, three-round burst, or fully automatic. These are your machine guns. And these have been banned for decades.
Damn lol u been afk in this thread since like first page.
U have to study up before u post or sum?
