I know he was insanely talented but he wasted that talent by making 4 / 4 synthpop. I'm fully convinced he would shit all over Bonamassa if he had desired to do so.

Eh, I wouldn't call it a waste. He is one of the towering figures of a genre and made piles of money doing it. He could have made more complex and less popular work, but he really changed a lot of things, not just about music, but about sex in American culture. It was a pretty decent life, if too short.

Well yeah but you get my idea, anyone can learn how to play his tune Cream but almost nobody can play Guitar like him. He was successful at what he chose to do, of course.

Anyway, you said it best earlier, he was talented but liking his music or not, is a matter of taste.
I'm not denying his abilities as a musician but his style of music is not my taste and that's really all there is to it.

Thinking intelligence is in any way related to liking or disliking Prince is what I don't agree with.

Totally agree. Though saying that he's untalented is definitely pure insanity,I think we can agree. :)

Anyone ever seen the Dave Chappelle - Prince playing basketball skit?

Believe it or not....Prince really was a baller. Point guard.

Prince is not over anyone's intelligence which is why he sold 100,000,000 albums. He makes really basic, danceable popmusic that anyone can get into.
If you like it that's fine by me but don't act like he's some highbrow musician when he's clearly not.

Elitism when it comes to music is always laughable but it's even more ridiculous in this case as you're not even listening to advanced or complex stuff.

Goes to show me that you are a total fool. Do you even know what a musician is? He was regarded as one of the greatest if not the greatest multi-instrumentalists in the industry, by people who know a lot more about music than you.
He was a fantastic guitar player, bassist, pianist, drummer etc. also played and arranged ALL 27 instruments on his album 'For You' in 1978.
Yeah, "Don't act like he's some highbrow musician when he's clearly not".

Yup. And it went both ways, too. Prince used an image of Chappelle dressed as him as the album cover for his album Breakfast Can Wait

His music is regarded as great, by people who know more about music than anyone in this thread, it's also regarded as complete shit by other people, who know more about music than anyone in this thread. But cool strawman argument.

I already admitted he was talented but you clearly don't understand that the type of music he chose to play is, for the most part, not technically advanced and, therefore, it's completely ridiculous to act elitist about him.
A basic 4 / 4 pop song played by a genius is still a basic 4 / 4 pop song.
