The last two equations you wrote, "6/2(1+2) or 6/(2(1+2))", are the same. They both = 1.

No, they are not, the / is the same as ÷. The parentheses completely change the equation.

It is a fraction, but you're dividing the wrong numbers. Everyone knows that for this equation:

1+4
-----
1+9

You get 1/2. You solve for the top, then solve for the bottom, then divide the top by the bottom. But, this equation is actually:

(1+4)
------
(1+9)

Both the equation in the numerator and the equation in the denominator are separate equations. You and a few others are interpreting 6÷2(1+2) as:

6
------
2(1+2)

But in reality, it's not. The ÷ is not a fraction bar. The ÷ is a division symbol, and according to the order of operations, you solve as such:

6÷2 = 3
1+2 = 3
3*3 = 9

You are arguing the division sign, which could have, also, been written as 6/2(1+2), is changing the equation. It does not change anything that the division sign was used instead of 6/2. Also, it is not read as (6/2), because that changes the outcome to 9.

According to PEMDAS, I multiply before dividing, therefore both equations,"6/2(1+2) or 6/(2(1+2))", are the same.

I added parentheses to show you where you separate the equation. If you had passed 4th grade math, you would have figured this out by now.

the equation is not supposed to be seperated where you want to seperate it, if it would then the parentheses would be there to begin with

the problem is that you placed the parentheses wrong -.-

It is read as 6/2. Just do the order of fucking operations:

PEMDAS

Solve for the parentheses. (1+2) = 3. Right? "Yes."
Solve for the exponents. No exponents, so no solving to be done. Right? "Yes."
Solve for the multiplication or division, going from left to right. 6÷2*3 = 9. Right? "I DON'T FUCKING KNOW HELP!!"
