Yes, what you eat is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to losing weight.

Avoid anything with high fructose corn syrup (especially soda and sugary drinks). Make sure your overall calorie intake makes sense. In general for the first week if you go to bed hungry it's normal, at least it was for me. I'm 6 foot and 215lb. My "maintain" calorie intake is around 2600 calories a day. Right now I'm going to go on a massive cut and try to only do about 1500 calories. I really wanna drop to 180.

is it not possible to do that + build muscle?

been doing lifting in the afternoon for about a month now and my belly still not going anywhere

started cardio just last week

I don't know about building muscle. My friend who works out says you are either in "gain" mode where you put on muscle, or in "cut" mode where you take off fat.

Take it for what it's worth, which is not much.

during my gain mode, what do i eat? just a lot?
