Yup. We pay for all the things that you Americans pay for, except we pay for it according to how much we earn, and we pay for everything in bulk on monthly bases rather than having to cash out large payments in bursts. For many people who aren't really wealthy, that's something that really helps with managing their finances.
Interestingly, the rate at which Belgian people save up money is among the highest in the world. Somehow, despite this "tax" burden, we still manage to make good money and live quite comfortable lives.
In contrast, the Land of the Free has an amazing setup for entrepreneurs and business owners, since they pay fairly low taxes and have relatively few restrictions. For anyone who works as an employee though, life is much more difficult in the USA than it is in countries like Belgium.
There's a lot of illegals here that are rewarded for thier crimes.
